Hello can we meet you?

Kenny Ogunmiloro but most people knows me as the Radio friend. I am from Ekiti State but I have  lived all my life in Ibadan. To the glory of God, I am d C.E.O of kaykoncept Media Inc, organizer of the Oyo state sports media award 2014

So you are the brain behind the  Oyo State Sports Media awards, can you tell us how the Awards came to be, when was it first held, why you feel it is necessary to organize such an event ?

this is d 1st edition of the award although we had a replica of it last year at GQ lounge but it wasn’t as big as this.  I have always felt that it is important  to celebrate and reward outstanding sports OAPs in Oyo state  and that is the basis for setting up this award.  It is not mere boasting  to say thatOyo State can boast of outstanding sport presenters that can stand shoulder to shoulder with their colleagues from other parts of the country.

And how the response has been to the Oyo State Sports Media Awards since its inception?

Thank God the response has been awewome, big thanks to all the media houses and my colleagues for the publicity of the event.

Another edition of the Oyo State Sport Media Awards is coming up in a few days time,  can you give us the details of what the event is going to look like, the guests that are expected to be at the event, the programme  of the event  the time and the place and other details you feel we should know?

The  event will be held at OPTIONS 24/7 Bar and Nightclub AGODI G.R.A IBADAN  on Thursday the 4th of December, 2014 by 6pm. There would be a red carpet reception starting by 4 pm and after the awards there would be an after party inside the club by 11pm.  Various prominent sports personalities  are going to be at the event
Bimbo Adeola (Top Striker) Brilla FM,  Emmanuel Etim (Femi & The Gang) (COOL FM, NIGERIA INFO & WAZOBIA FM), Godwin Enakhena (Lagos Television) Ojeikhere Aikhoje (Supersport & Founder League Bloggers Award), Feyi Ogunduyile as well as all your favorite sports presenters in Ibadan. So its a lineup you cannot  afford to miss.

According to the list of awards that has been publicized, the awards seemed to be geared towards electronic media, television, radio and online media, there are some who feel that there should also be print media awards, like for newspapers and magazines. Why is this so?  Are there steps being taken to ensure that future editions of the awards include categories for the print media

I am not sure I agree with that assessment. The guys  in the print media haeve not  been sidelined, we have a category for the best sport reporter of d year(print) if you look through  the categories of awards very well.

Unlike plenty of other media awards around, the voting for the Oyo State Sports Media Awards will be done at the event itself, why did you decide to make that so?

initially I wanted d votin to be done online, but we felt a single presenter could ask  a million people to go vote for him only. We wanted a transparent medium to select winners, that’s why we feel voting at the venue through the audience would be better, just like they do to select the FIFA Ballon d’ Or winner.

Apart from the sports personalities, which other personalities are expected to be at the event?

The show will be hosted by Rolake Bello of Star FM and Willy Law of MITV, Peteru will be there as well,  so will be Yemi Sonde and Edmund Obilo of Splash FM, Oyinkanade and Femo Lancaster will be  thrilling us with music. DJ AY of Star FM is also going to be at at the event  there are also others whose names I cannot mention here. Again it is also quite a lineup.

Toyin Ibitoye is widely known to be a very busy man, how did you manage to convince him  not only to be at the awards night but to deliver a lecture?

I must say it was not too difficult. Toyin Ibitoye is the most perfect gentleman  I have ever met. We met less than a year ago and the relationship between him and I has been solid. I told him about the idea and he gladly agreed to be part of it without thinking twice

Again the Sports awards seem to be geared towards personalities from Ibadan alone, except for the smattering of awardees from other parts of Oyo state, are there steps being taken to ensure that other cities in the state don’t miss out  on this awards night in future editions?

As you yourself know,  Ibadan is where the real gladiators in Oyo State Sports are, but that does not mean we are not
involving other guys in other areas of Oyo state. I have reached out to them and all of them will be part of the event one way or the other. So its a collective thing.

If you don’t mind, can you give us a list of some of the individuals and/or companies that are going to be supporting the Oyo State Sports Media Awards?

thank God we’ve been able to get some sponsors for the event.  Infact in addition to the awards one of our sponsors has promised to  give a  free pair of shoes to each one of the award winners

We would like you to say a few words to the followers of ConnectIbadan who are planning to come for the Oyo State Sports Media awards
